Restaurant Review: Bihari, Tokai

We visited Bihari on an exceptionally windy night, thus setting the scene for a perfect curry evening.  Living in the “burbs” one is always eager to try out new restaurants – the mere thought of a trek into the City centre often deters!

We arrived to a warm and inviting atmosphere with crisp linen and popadoms awaiting us.  Forearmed with the knowledge that we were both having curry we set about persuing the winelist and the challenge of how to match wine with a Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka Masala.  We decided on the Simonsig Gewurztraminer and it did not disappoint, with beautiful balance of fruit and acidity, soothing the palate and leaving a lingering aftertaste.  The curries were outstanding and the general service excellent.  We had three duty managers enquiring how the meal was progressing which highlights their attention to service detail.  Dessert was not needed as the meal was sufficient and the last glass of wine was dessert itself.simonsig-gewurzt.jpg

Overall the evening met our expectation, with a menu that appeals to a wide audience.  Furthermore, the wines available offer a range of styles that equally appeal to many palates.  We will definitely return, hopefully with space for a starter or dessert!
