Green waste boosts Hunter grapes


Household green waste is being used as compost at a Hunter Valley winery and vignerons say it is leading to bumper crops.

Tyrell’s winery has been taking green waste from households on the New South Wales central coast and using the compost in six semillon and shiraz vineyards.

The Office of Environment and Heritage says the trial has been successful, with an increase in productivity, improved soil moisture and better grape quality.
